Service High School Renewal Completed

December 18, 2015

After two voter bond cycles and five years of comprehensive design and construction services, Cornerstone is pleased to report the on time, on budget completion of the Service High School Renewal. The 180,000 SF school, originally built in 1971 and currently serving about 1,775 students, now features state-of-the-art academic, performance, food services, administration, and related spaces that make Service High a world class educational facility.

Renewal work included demolition, renovation, and new construction to address a wide range of deficiencies and to respond to existing features, as designed in cooperation with a design team led by Architects Alaska. Cornerstone divided the work into eight phases inclusive of Building C (one phase), Buildings B & EF (six phases), and the Grant Fraser Memorial Auditorium (1 phase). The school remained operational throughout construction.
