Description
Cornerstone performed pre-construction and construction service for Cook Inlet Housing Authority’s residential, mixed-use facility in Downtown Anchorage. 38 units are affordable housing for residents with low and modest household incomes, and 12 units are available for residents without income restrictions. Located at 7th and I, Elizabeth Place offers residents access to downtown jobs, retailers and services, and quick connection to the Coastal Trail and the Park Strip.
In early 2017, Cornerstone was selected as the General Contractor to work in concert with KPB Architects. Cornerstone worked with the owner, design team, and stakeholders through several iterations to what is now the current design to meet project budget and schedule.
The challenge Cornerstone was happy to tackle was extreme value engineering of the 35% design. Careful and strategic coordination was performed to trim the construction estimate down over $1.8 million.
